No ano de 1972 o empresário Ita Francelino levou o jogador Joel(Santa Cruz) a Portugal. Acertou com o Marítimo da Ilha da Madeira, lá encontrou Calixto; bom jogador e amigo, hoje editor do Jornal da Madeira.
O radialista Acácio também ajudou ao recém casal Joel e Vastí, e como bom anfitrião os apresentou ao casal português Flávio e Maria da Luz.
Bons cicerones passaram a levá-los a conhecer a Ilha. Explicaram que o arquipélago da Madeira encontra-se situado no Oceano Atlântico, dista 500km da costa oeste africana e 1000km do continente europeu.
Foi numa das folgas que Flávio avisou: Joel se prepare que amanhã iremos a POISO(lugarejo no Caminho Lombada-Funchal) e depois vamos à Açorda. Beleza, estaremos firmes.
Excelente passeio, parando num restaurante Flávio após um bom cálice no gole de vinho perguntou: gostaram? Sim, muito bonita a região. E agora; vamos à Açorda? Joel sem saber diz: fica longe daqui? Não! PA! Açorda Madeirense é um sopa muito recomendado nesta região no ” Restaurante Casa Abrigo do Poiso”. Todos riram bastante, e pediram mais do bom vinho garrafeira bem selecionado.
